The Women in Engineering program for the 2026 IEEE AP-S/URSI Conference will host a Cocktail Reception featuring a one-hour interactive panel discussion. The session will bring together academic and industry panelists with audience members for an engaging discussion on career development, mentorship, personal experiences and challenges, work-life balance, and other topics related to professional growth and success in engineering

Prof. Aline Eid
Biography: Aline Eid is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2022 and her master's degree from the American University of Beirut, followed by a postdoctoral appointment at the MIT Media Lab. She leads the Beam Dynamics Group, which advances research in ultra-low power wireless sensing, radar, backscatter and NextG communications, and wireless power transfer for smart cities and infrastructure applications.
Professor Eid is a recipient of the 2025 DARPA Young Faculty Award, the 2026 NSF CAREER Award, the 2026 AFOSR Young Investigator Program Award, and the 2026 IEEE MTT-S Outstanding Young Engineer Award. She has authored more than 80 publications and is the inventor of nine patents. Her research has been recognized with several Best Paper and Best Poster Awards from the IEEE AP-S, MTT-S, and RFID communities.
Prof. Dan Jiao
Biography: Dan Jiao received her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in 2001. She then worked at the Technology Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Division, Intel Corporation until September 2005, as a Senior CAD Engineer, Staff Engineer, and Senior Staff Engineer. In September 2005, she joined Purdue University as an Assistant Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where she became a tenured Associate Professor in 2009, a Full Professor in 2013, and holds the title of Synopsys Professor since 2022. She is the Director of Rapid-HI (Heterogeneous Integration) Design Institute, an Elmore ECE Emerging Frontiers Center.
A Fellow of the IEEE and a Distinguished Microwave Lecturer of the IEEE MTT Society, Jiao has authored over 350 papers in refereed journals and international conferences. Her research has been recognized by the 2022 Computational Electromagnetics Award of the ACES society, the 2019 Intel's Outstanding Researcher Award, the 2013 Sergei A. Schelkunoff Prize Paper Award of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society, numerous Best Paper Awards and Best Paper Finalists in conferences. She was one of the 85 selected for the National Academy of Engineering's (NAE) 2011 U.S. Frontiers of Engineering Symposium, a recipient of the NSF Career Award in 2008, the Intel Logic Technology Development Divisional Achievement Award in 2003, and the 2000 Raj Mittra Outstanding Research Award. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal on Multiscale and Multiphysics Computational Techniques.

Dr. Mahrukh Khan
Biography: Mahrukh Khan is working as an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). She is a Director of Microwave and Wireless Communication Lab at TCNJ. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2007 and 2011. Dr. Khan received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Kansas City, Missouri, USA, in 2017. Later, she worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Nano and Micro Electronics Lab at UMKC. In early 2020, she worked as an Assistant Research Professor in the Missouri Institute of Defense and Energy (MIDE).
She has published more than 30 articles and conference papers in renowned journals and peer-reviewed conferences in her field of research. In 2024, she won a “TCNJ's Early Career Faculty Excellence Award”. In 2022, She won an NSF Engineering Research Initiative (ERI) grant to work on design challenges of microstrip antennas using surface current optimization. In 2016, She also selected as the UMKC Outstanding Graduate Student award at the CSEE department. Dr. Khan was selected as an IEEE AP-S Young Professional Ambassador in 2022. She is a member of IEEE AP-S Young Professional Committee and also a member of IEEE AP-S Technical committee on Wireless communications (TC-8). She is also a chair of IEEE APS/MTT/ED Joint Chapter Princeton/Central Jersey Section.
Dr. C. J. Reddy
Biography: Dr. C.J. Reddy is Siemens Fellow at Siemens Digital Industries Software. He served as Vice President, Business Development-Electromagnetics for Americas at Altair from 2014 to 2025 and transitioned to Siemens, with the acquisition of Altair by Siemens. Dr. Reddy was awarded the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada Visiting Fellowship to work at Communications Research Center in Ottawa during 1991-1993 and was awarded the US National Research Council (NRC) Resident Research Associateship in 1993 to work at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. He also worked as Research Professor at Hampton University from 1995 to 2000. Dr. Reddy was the President of Applied EM, Inc (2000-2017) where he led several Phase I and Phase II SBIR projects for the DoD and NASA. He was also the President of EM Software & Systems (USA) Inc (2002-2014) and led the marketing of the EM Simulation tool, Feko in North America. EM Software & Systems (USA) Inc was acquired by Altair in 2014.
Dr. Reddy is a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of ACES (Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society) and a Fellow of AMTA (Antenna Measurement Techniques Association). Dr. Reddy is a co-author of the book, “Antenna Analysis and Design Using FEKO Electromagnetic Simulation Software,” published in June 2014 by SciTech Publishing (now part of IET). Dr. Reddy served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Open Journal of Antennas of Propagation and IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation. He served as the Chair of IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) Young Professionals Committee during 2021-2024 and served on the AP-S AdCom during 2023-2024. Dr. Reddy is appointed to IEEE Fellows Committee by IEEE Board of Directors for the terms 2020-2021 and 2022-2023. Currently, Dr. Reddy is serving as the 2026 IEEE AP-S President. Dr. Reddy is inducted into IEEE Heritage Circle by the IEEE Foundation for establishing the "IEEE AP-S CJ Reddy Travel Grant for Graduate Students."
Prof. Haihan Sun
Biography: Haihan Sun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, from 2019 to 2023. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, in 2019, and her bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China, in 2015. Her research interests include antennas, ground-penetrating radar, microwave sensing, and nondestructive testing.
She has published more than 30 journal papers and 30 conference papers and has received several young professional and student paper honors and awards. She was recognized as an Outstanding Associate Editor for both IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters and IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation in 2025. She received the IEEE AP-S Donald G. Dudley Jr. Undergraduate Teaching Award and the U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2026. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing and IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters.
Prof. Leung Tsung
Biography: Leung Tsang is the Robert J. Hiller Professor of Engineering at the University of Michigan. He is a TPC Co-chair of IEEE AP-S/URSI 2026 in Detroit. He received BS, MS, and PhD from MIT. Leung Tsang is the lead author of 4 books: "Theory of Microwave Remote Sensing" and Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves' (volumes 1, 2 and 3). He was the President of IEEE- Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) from 2006-2007. He received the Distinguished Achievement Award from IEEE-GRSS , the Golden Florin Award, , the William Pecora award co-sponsored by USGS and NASA, the IEEE Electromagnetics Award and the Van de Hulst Light Scattering Award . He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of OPTICA and a member of the US National Academy of Engineering.
Prof. Francesca Vipiana
Biography: Francesca Vipiana received the Laurea and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, in 2000 and 2004, respectively, with doctoral research carried out partly at the European Space Research Technology Center, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. From 2005 to 2008, she was a Research Fellow with the Department of Electronics, Politecnico di Torino. From 2009 to 2012, she was the Head of the Antenna and EMC Laboratory, Istituto Superiore Mario Boella, Torino. Since 2012, she has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Politecnico di Torino, where she has been an Associate Professor since 2014 and a Full Professor since 2021.
Her main research activities concern numerical techniques based on integral equations and method of moments, with a focus on multiresolution and hierarchical schemes, domain decomposition, preconditioning and fast solution methods, advanced quadrature integration schemes, and analysis of glide-periodic structures. Moreover, her research interests include the modeling, design, realization and testing of microwave imaging and sensing systems for medical and industrial applications.
She received the Lot Shafai Mid-Career Distinguished Award from the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) for “contributions to computational electromagnetics, and in particular to the analysis of multi-scale problems” in 2017, the Best Paper Award at the Spanish URSI Symposium in 2023, and the Best Electromagnetics Paper Award at the 20th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) in 2026. She was an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation (2018-2024) and the founder and responsible of the Women in Engineering Column in the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine (2019-2024). She is a member of the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP) Board of Directors, and the Vice-Chair of the IEEE AP-S Expanding Collaboration & Engagement (ECE) committee.
